Karma

As much as I'd like to believe in karma, it's days like today that make me question whether this whole notion of karma truly exists. And by no means is this meant to be a pitty party, but let me recap my past 24 hours. Last night after leaving my Second City writing class, I had the most major wipe out on the sidewalk of Hollywood Blvd. My cell phone, notebook and papers were all thrown about a block away from me. It was humiliating, as most falls are. And today, upon entering my local AT&T store, I was informed that I must pay over $300 to replace the phone, and all of my information has been lost. This fact in itself brought me to tears thinking about all of the information & contacts that I've lost, but the news got worse. My credit card was declined, and I was forced to leave the store with my old broken phone, humiliated. The next errand on my list was picking up my car from the body shop, which was the one thing I was looking forward to. That was until I encountered this nightmare of a woman who was seated in the waiting room next to me. The woman was on her cell phone, bitching at someone about how many beads were on her wedding dress. I looked down at her ring finger and discovered an enormous yet beautiful diamond engagement ring. The woman proceeded to talk about how her wedding is in 2 weeks in Cabo, and she was furious that only 350 people were attending. This woman continued her bitching about the fact that she just sold an 8 million dollar house, and she will only recieve around 1 million dollars as her commission. I found my self loathing this woman, perhaps even hating her, or at least what I knew of her. When her car arrived, it was a $80,000
+ BMW. And she was rude, this woman never once thanked anyone, and once she was in her car, she peeled out of the parking lot like an asshole, screetching tires and all. So I guess my question is, why her? Why does this nightmare of a person deserve all that she has? It is people like this woman that truly make me wonder if there is such a thing as karma.
