"Social Networking"...
I think I may have made "social networking" all too difficult, or at least for myself. As an aspiring writer and comedian, it is currently me, and me only, who is in charge of playing every role imaginable to further my career. Thank God for "social networking", because it is the only free way to have a publicist. In terms of an agent, I again have "social/online" networking working for me, along with a handful of actual human beings that I can "network" with. And as for a manager, well that's pretty obvious, that again is obviously my job. And all of this is fine with me, I truly believe that some (or all) people should have to work their way up in life. But that brings me back to my lack or lack thereof "social networking" skills. I'll admit it, I've spent many an hour Googling "How to get more followers on Twitter." Somehow I have close to 1,000 "friends" on Facebook, yet I have under 30 people following me on Twitter, or this blog, nonetheless. This is by no means a cry for help or advice, I guess just simply a commentary on the irony/hypocrisy of what gets people's attention online. Like I said, I have more friends than I need or even know on Facebook, (probably thanks to some of my profile pic's), but when it comes to something of "worth" (i.e) an idea, opinion, etc, no one one wants to "follow me", lol. At the end of the day, none of this nonsense really matters, all we can do in this life is put our best foot forward, and hope to be "followed." :)
